Voluntary development work in Mozambique

A new life in Inhambane

Some regular visitors of this website might know us already. We are Saskia and Morten, a Dutch couple. After traveling around a lot in Africa we now have decided to do something more useful. We have joined VSO, a voluntary aid organisation, to work in Mozambique for two years. Here you can read all about our experiences.

The latest news

At the moment of writing it is already June 2007 and we are still enjoying our life in Inhambane. We just don't have time to write stories for the site.

Morten extended his contract with VSO for another year, which means until March 2008. His role changed and he is now not only working for the computer center at the Emilia Dausse school, but overall working for the provincial direction of education in Maxixe. Beside his work for VSO he started his own company 'Ama Gi' which he is slowly building up now. The main activities of Ama Gi are computer and network maintenance, installation of networks and advice of IT projects.

Sas still has her own beauty salon, but doesn't have her room anymore at Pensao Pachica. At the moment she is working in our house, but hopefully she will have a room in town later this year.

And than the big news............
Sas is pregnant so around the 19th of September we will be parents! Sas will fly to the Netherlands beginning of August and will come back to Mozambique with the baby half of November. Morten will visit Holland for 6 weeks, of course to be with the delivery!
An exciting time with a lot of things to arrange and so one of the excuses why we don't have time to write stories anymore...
